A website is useless if nobody visits it. After submitting and creating a website on the Internet, it is now your job to direct traffic to it. There are quite a lot of methods to do this traffic-driving activity and usually they are free and will only cost you time.

Consider the following:

1. Get your website listed in different search engines, especially the big ones: Google, Yahoo and MSN.

2. If you have YouTube account, promote you website there.

3. Participate in Pay Per Click programs.

4. Join link exchange programs.

5. Explore the viral marketing strategies.

Still, your website needs to be something that is unique, useful and content-wise to be able to sustain the traffic.
