c.) Does you video display freeze up or intermittently go wacko? This may be sign of pending failure so get hold of a new one to get this resolved easy. It may also have to do with your monitor/display which may have already lived way beyond it’s lifespan of a couple of years. Capacitors and other components tend to dry out.
d.) Do you often get the “Blue Screen of Death”? The memory corruption warning may be sign of your motherboard going through it’s death throes so if you have an older board, maybe a newer one may remedy your problem.
All the above mentioned suggestions to check the usability of your computer may solve problems regarding instability such as faulty memory modules and even a faulty motherboard that also has components that dry out in time. Considering the high temperatures that exist within the computer casing, you may have “cooked” your board beyond use and may need a total upgrade. Remember, computers a few years back may not have any more available parts due to rapid changes in technology and design. Today’s motherboards use better parts that do not dry out in time and they are of course a whole lot faster. Maintaining a desktop in tip top shape may be possible but as with any maintenance job, with age comes higher cost. You may even find yourself in a position where a simple upgrade can send you buying a totally new computer due to non-availability of parts and other supporting hardware.
